Dr. Karthik Ramani
Dr. Ramani is a professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Purdue University
and is the Director for PRECISE (Purdue Research and Education Center Information
Systems in Engineering). Professor Ramani has numerous professional honors to his
credit, some of which are: University Faculty Scholar, Purdue University, 2002;
Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer, 1999; Ruth and Joel Spira award for outstanding
contributions to the Mechanical Engineering curriculum, Purdue University, 1997;
Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award, Society of Automotive Engineers, 1996; National
Science Foundation CAREER Award, 1996; National Science Foundation Research Initiation
Award, 1993; and Dupont Young Faculty Award, 1992. He is the author or co-author
of 74 papers published in refereed journals and symposia, and he holds six patents.
Professor Ramani received his Ph.D. from Stanford University, and holds Bachelor's
and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology
(Madras) and Ohio State University, respectively.

Dr. Parasuram (Bala) Balasubramanian
In 1995, Bala became part of the leadership team at Infosys Technologies and was
instrumental in its growth from a $36M/year company to the multi-billion dollar
entity it is today. He became an Infosys fellow in 2002 and a Director of the Infosys
Leadership Institute in 2003. Prior to Infosys, Bala was a Group Leader at Tata
Consultancy Services (TCS) in Bombay and the Middle East as well as CEO and CIO
of firms in Chennai, India and Kingston, Jamaica. Bala has engineering and management
degrees from I.I.T. Madras and a doctoral degree from Purdue University. In 2001,
he was recognized as an Outstanding Industrial Engineer by his alma mater, and he
is a Fellow of the Indian Institute of Materials Management.
