VizSeek’s mission is to connect the world's industrial users through online communities
of interest, providing the knowledge and tools to identify business opportunities
and make intelligent business decisions.
Form, Fit, and Function. These are the three criteria vital to making design, procurement,
and manufacturing decisions for a given product.
In December 2002, Nainesh Rathod and Jamie Tan began to develop technologies to
help companies in using all three criteria to make the most intelligent business
decisions possible. They began by developing VizSeek, a revolutionary shape search
engine that allows users to enter visual search criteria to search databases in
which most of the information exists in visual form, such as in images, CAD geometry,
or drawings. This has allowed companies to make optimal use of Form and Fit criteria,
which are usually represented visually, rather than only Function criteria, which
are usually represented textually.
The founders saw an opportunity in 2007 to expand their vision of connecting companies
to the information they need. Rather than keeping search as a strictly in-house
function, what if companies could make their parts, catalogs, and manufacturing
capabilities available and searchable to an online community of users who were part
of their trust network (their customers, their prospects, or their extended supply
chain)? This idea became VizSpace, an online platform that takes the principles
of social networking into the commercial world, where VizSpace is now used to link
companies in various sectors of the economy. VizSpace has become a valuable marketing
and collaboration tool, providing opportunities for networking and conducting intelligent
searches for vendors.
VizSeek continues to look to the future in using technological innovation to help
companies collaborate and join together to win opportunities and meet the challenges
ahead by intelligently leveraging their assets and expertise, using the basis of
Form, Fit, and Function.
