September 15, 2004 | Imaginestics' i-config takes a customer centric approach
Purdue Research Park, West Lafayette, Indiana, U.S.A - Imaginestics, the software developer of the Knowledge
Reuse Management (KRM) system, announced today the release of i-config's version 2.0. I-config is the first
"rules & reuse" based product configurator. Configurators are often used as very specialized and sophisticated
quotation and/or order-entry points. The most common type of configurator is a product configurator, which can solve
many different kinds of problems relating to special manufacturing instructions, special pricing considerations,
specifications of materials, manufacturing limitations, and product limitations, as well as substitutions, additions,
deletions, and modifications to products or components.
"This version has given us the ability to customize our own rules and quickly deploy configurations for new products,"
said Eric Hendricks, lead design engineer at Barker Company. "We are excited about the ease-of-use of this new version
of i-config and some of the additional features, such as the ability to easily add custom parts."
"Our i-config's base platform has been totally revamped and our adoption of the .NET technology gives us the
flexibility to enable our customers to configure their rules simply using an Excel spreadsheet, while i-config
automatically interprets the rules and interfaces to various applications to perform the required actions," said
Jamie Tan, Chief Technology Officer of Imaginestics.
i-config's new version takes a very customer-centric approach and can therefore
| automate a company's sales, design, and manufacturing processes for assemble/engineer/design-to-order products | |
| seamlessly integrate engineering, design, and manufacturing functions throughout the entire product life cycle - from sales to final manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance | |
| enable knowledge-based reuse of previously ordered configurations and reduce cost and expedite orders | |
| automate data management inherently | |
